Furpile Idea partners with Naia™ from Eastman
Furpile Idea takes a further step in its research and development journey by introducing Naia™ fiber by Eastman into its proprietary production technologies.
The innovation of this collaboration lies in the application of Naia™ within our sliver knit production, where the fiber is processed directly, transformed into tops and subsequently into fabric — without ever undergoing spinning into yarn.
This represents a significant milestone: this is one the first time Naia™ has been applied within this type of manufacturing process, entering a production flow that starts from fiber and develops through Furpile Idea’s specialized sliver knit technologies for the creation of sherpa and faux fur constructions.
The initial developments include:
- Fabrics made with 100% Naia™ fiber
- Blends of 70% Naia™ / 30% RWS-certified wool
By working directly at fiber stage, we are able to integrate Naia™ into our pile constructions while maintaining full control over structure, volume, aesthetic performance and technical behavior. This approach enables us to incorporate a sustainable fiber into the core technologies that define Furpile Idea’s manufacturing identity.
A next-generation fiber with measurable sustainability
Naia™ Renew is produced using Eastman’s Carbon Renewal Technology, incorporating 60% sustainably sourced wood pulp and 40% certified recycled waste materials via mass balance, resulting in approximately 35% lower carbon footprint compared to conventional cellulose acetate production processes.
The wood pulp is responsibly sourced and verified, and Eastman has been recognized as a leader in responsible forest sourcing in the Canopy Hot Button Report 2025.
In addition to its circular sourcing model, Naia™ fibers are certified biodegradable, with independent testing demonstrating biodegradation in approximately 11 weeks under natural conditions, supporting reduced environmental impact at end of life.
Redefining sustainable faux fur
Through this collaboration, Furpile Idea has developed a faux fur construction engineered with Naia™ fiber, combining aesthetic richness, softness and dimensional stability with measurable environmental responsibility.
The result is a pile fabric that delivers texture and volume while aligning with our long-term sustainability commitment. Processing the fiber directly within sliver knit production allows us to refine blends, optimize structural performance and ensure that technical excellence and environmental responsibility progress together.
The 70% Naia™ / 30% RWS-certified wool version further enhances the natural component of the construction, balancing innovation and tradition within a certified and traceable supply chain.
Innovation through partnership
This collaboration represents more than the introduction of a new fiber. It embodies the convergence of complementary expertise: Naia™’s sustainable fiber innovation and Furpile Idea’s advanced knowledge in pile constructions and sliver knit technology.
A project that reinforces our ongoing commitment to developing textile solutions capable of combining aesthetic value, technical precision and environmental awareness.
